Hey all,

I'm planning on upgrading my PC. I've amassed some 20 thousand dollars from working, so I can easily spend 800-1000 dollars upgrading. I currently have a core i5 sandy bridge processor that runs at 2.95 ghz when overclocked. I have a radeon 5870. My question is this: Will a GTX 970 fit into the pcie 2 x 16 gpu slot on my motherboard? And second, will my processor bottle neck the performance of games like the witcher 3? Thanks.

Solution
Yes, pcie 3.0.cards are backwards compatible with pcie 2.0 16x motherboard slots and it will physically fit in the Motherboard's. NO, your processor should bottleneck the card. My core i5 4670k runs at out 50% in most games so you have nothing to worry about. Ensure that power supply at deliver at least 500w of wattage.
