So just recently I've started to notice that 1080p on Fullscreen is nowhere near as good as it was a couple months ago. I have no idea whats causing it but I'm noticing slower bitrate, like blurry images at times, shades of black being separated by pixels, etc.

Here is an example of watching some 1080p gameplay -> http://i.imgur.com/FmdTdYj.png

It just is nowhere near as sharp and crisp as it used to be. Is it just me? I've tried many other youtubers and their samples of 1080p but its almost the same results, its very jarring. Barely looks any different from 480p.

I have 50mbp/s download speed and 15mbps/ upload speed. This was taken from theradbrad playing AC Unity, his first part video. I've tried pewdiepie, markiplier, other well known gamers that provide almost flawless 1080p quality (despite youtubes compression). I can play 1080p on ultra fine with gtx 970.

I've triple checked monitor settings, tried going back to flash, back to html5, chrome, ie, firefox, etc., but nothing has worked so far. My friend tells me that he is able to get the near flawless quality and its something on my side streaming.

Please advise. I'm aware of the Youtube compression, but it shouldn't be this bad, and I've had great playback before this. Bitrate looks like its 4-6mbps whereas before, it could look somewhere above 16mbps.

Thank you for the reply. Sadly I've tried both on and off on both firefox and chrome. Didn't see a single difference even after resetting the browser, waiting a bit, resetting pc, etc.

In case you want to see for yourself, here's the link to the video. https://youtu.be/7knmen1VSrM?t=15m29s

Yep, triple checked. Using latest Nvidia drivers, on a gtx 970.

It could be that the page may be zoomed out causing distortion. Click anywhere on the webpage and press Ctrl and -. Also play around with your resolution settings or reconnect your video cables to your monitor and PC and see if this makes it better.

Tried going up and down on the zooms, no noticable difference, and fullscreen is the same bloated stuff as usual. Double checked resolution settings, tried a different hdmi cord, etc. The only issue is playback from youtube alone, I think Vimeo has decent hd quality but I havent been an audience there long enough to tell the regular standards.

Thats the thing, I get same results on IE, Firefox, and Chrome. Even with hardware acceleration on/off, going back to flash on firefox or chrome through extension/plugins. I don't know if its just me but I can't find a single Assassins Creed Unity video where it looks prestige and sharp like what 1080p should at least be able to produce on youtube. Splatoon gameplay is the only one I found at the moment that looks pretty clean and sharp, but thats because the game requires less bitrate and details compared to ac unity probably.
