I am in the process of choosing all my components for my first pc build I am wanting to use it for gaming as well as a bit of multitasking my current build choices are:

Processor: Intel Core i7-4790K
Case: NZXT H440 – Designed by Razer
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Ranger
Video card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Video Card
Memory: G.SKILL Trident X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2400 (PC3 19200) or Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL9 2x8GB (am open for suggestions)
Power supply: Currently unknown (am open for suggestions)

I am open for suggestions when it comes to ram and my power supply. I also was thinking about a cpu cooler that is not just the stock one possibly NZXT Kraken X61 RL-KRX61-01 280mm All-In-One Water / Liquid CPU Cooling Solution but am unsure about this also.

From this post if you could inform me of the compatibility of my chosen components and any suggestions would be real great. thanks in advance

Thanks,
so you would not suggest the NZXT Kraken X61 RL-KRX61-01 280mm All-In-One Water / Liquid CPU Cooling Solution for the CPU cooler?

If you want do use water-cooling than you can for sure use the X61. I would personally use air-cooling and the Noctua NH-D15 for its silence and performance. The reason why I chose the H7 is, as I said I prefer air-cooling, that it's cheap and performs very well.

Thanks again, do you also have a preference on the memory that i should use? or does it not matter to much?

My pleasure helping. Your ram is fine. Just get the PSU and whatever cooler you wish. I still recommend air-cooling.

''Why would you suggest 750w power supply over the 650w ?'' because of the price/quality
its not because the gs series are not good ...its because you have a 750W instead of 650 for a cheaper price ...750W its a magic number when you go SLI or CROSSFIRE setup
