So I am building a new PC. I am giving the old one to my dad (the one im using now) so we can play games together (I'm 14) and I am getting a HDD for his PC and taking the current hdd out and putting it into my new pc as it has all my games on it. I know that the OS is glued to the Motherboard so i will have to get a new OS for my new PC. I have ordered a new copy of windows 8.1 and i will be installing that onto my new pc with my old HDD. I still have the copy of windows I used when i installed it onto my old pc that im giving to my dad. Am I able to disable the windows on my hdd that is going in my new pc and then reinstall it onto my dads new hdd on the same pc which it was first installed on? I really don't want to have to buy another OS as I am already buying one for my new PC.

Also the 500gb HDD that has my games on is slow and full. I am getting a new faster 1TB HDD and want to copy all the data from my 500gb HDD to my new 1TB HDD. I won't do that untill I am on my new PC though.

SPECS (if it helps):

Old PC that im giving to dad:
FX-6300
GA-970a-ds3p
R9 280
8gb ddr3
hyper tx3 cooler
550w 80+ bronze

My new PC:

i5 4690k
MSI z97 pc mate
gtx 970
8gb ddr3
hyper 212 evo
550w 80+ bronze

Thanks

PS. I am not spoiled, I am paying for all of this myself with the money I earn from baby sitting.

You need to leave the old drive with the old PC. You need to buy a new drive for the new PC along with a new copy of Windows. Then put Windows on the new drive, motherboard drivers and Apps. Then copy any data you want from the old drive to your new drive.
