Hey everyone, after building my monster, my old stuff (Intel Core 2 processor & 2x1GB DDR2 RAM) is not utilized anymore... If anybody from around me ask me about it, I'd like to fix it and sell it...
So, I found 4 motherboards with DDR2 & DDR3 slots here in my city:
1 Gigabyte: https://www.skroutz.gr/s/281569/Gigabyte-G41M-Combo.html
2 Asrocks: https://www.skroutz.gr/s/263745/Asrock-G41C-GS.html and https://www.skroutz.gr/s/6687047/Asrock-G41C-GS-R2-0.html
And 1 Msi: https://www.skroutz.gr/s/250146/MSI-G41M-P33-Combo.html

What you suggest guys?

Thanks for your time :)

Hello,

Go for the cheapest, it won't make a difference (all are low-end motherboards). On the other hand, they are quite expensive and the system will be a hard sell: for the price of the SK775 motherboard only, one can go for a cheap H81 motherboard + a dual core Celeron and the system will be faster, and with much better upgrading possibilities. Try to locate an used motherboard with DDR2 support (G41 chipset for 45 nm Core), you cannot use DDD2+DDR3 at the same time anyway.

Low-end means the cheapest and feature-free models; to reduce costs, manufacturers use cheap components (transistors, capacitors) and sub-par chipset + VRM cooling (smaller heatsinks), the motherboard will have just a few SATA ports, only few PCI/PCI-e slots, less USB ports, very limited BIOS options, etc.

They will handle the same workload as their top counterparts, but with lowered efficiency / more heat / less speed.

Your old motherboard is broken or you just want to assure a future DDR3 compatibility?

Got it. My old motherboard & GPU is broken yeah, what is left is my processor and RAM... PSU + CASE + HDD works now with my new build... BUT, i might finder other contents to build another PC, to sell it, or upgrade it and sell it? I don't know... So, finding a combo motherboard would be a plus, to use my old RAM and not buy new ones...
