Hi Guys,

I am Planning to buy a new Laptop where my work demands more RAM and Processor perfprmance. The current version of software which I need to install demands minimum 8gb as recomended by product support.Based on this if I look forward for future version going to be released demandes more than 16gb in coming future.

Based on the current market avaliablity I understood that max ram extendable is 16gb for all the laptops.I have the below queries:

1. Whatis the difference between 3rd gen, 4th gen and 5th Gen processors as the maximum Ram sems to be same in all the three ?

2. Does any of the 3rd gen, 4th gen and 5th Gen processors support more than 16gb ram in future ?

3. For my above requirement of Ram and Processor speed which generation(3rd, 4th & 5th Gen) and which series(i3, i5 & i7 Processor) is suggestable?

Based on my Ram and Processor speed, Please suggest which would be the best for current and future requirements ?

Thanks in Advance

1. The generation increases often indicate slight performance increases. However, the difference in performance between an i7 3930k and an i7 5930k are minimal.
2. Your CPU isn't whats limiting you, it's your motherboard. Check and see what motherboard the system uses, how many channels of RAM it has, if it's upgradable. I would generally recommend buying a compact desktop PC rather than a laptop for updatability. What is your budget?
3. All those processors can handle RAM, but if you're a content creator, I would recommend leaning towards an i7.
