On my C drive, which is 232 GB total according to the system. I have been having space issues. I have not however been able to work out whats been taking the space, I just ran WinDirStat and it said I was using about 170gb of it, Windows says I am using 227 Gb. I just opened up disk cleanup and it says I have 120GB of temporary files, which I suspect to be unlikely, but I am not certain. Additionally whatever is taking the space is multiplying, I uninstalled something and had a neat 7 GB free, its now 5.02 GB, in the space of 30 minutes. Without installing anything. In fact in the time I took to write this I lost 100mb

Anybody have ideas? (I am running Vista 64 bit btw)

Edit, from my post down the thread:

(Right, Disk Cleanup ran, I make it about 5.5 GB gone, after running it the first time it still said I had 90gb of temp files so I ran it again. No change, but now it says a few hundred mb. I have 11.7 GB free (and its not declining anymore which is nice). However, running WinDirStat it says I'm only using 177gb instead of the 221gb that Windows says. Anybody have any ideas on the divergance?)

Restore points. WinDirStat doesn't show that space.

Find your System Restore settings, and see what that is set to.
Control Panel
System
System Protection
System Protection
Click on the relevant drive, and select Configure

It will show you current usage and Max use %
