[PROBLEM] recently bought an msi z97 and i7 4790k, won't POST

I purchased an i7 4790k alongside an msi gaming 3 motherboard, I have plugged in the CPU, CPU fan alongside 2 sticks of DDR3 RAM and the computer fails to POST, the only thing that happens is the audio boost light flashes red once, then if I hold the power button for around 5 seconds a blue light at the bottom of the board will flash constantly until I unplug it from the mains, any ideas?

try taking both the ram modules out, then try only one module in each slot, then take it out all together and try the other ram module

the same thing happened to me, for me it turned out one of my ram modules was faulty, got it replaced and now it works fine

I'll be honest, my knowledge on building computers is I limited, I know how and where everything goes and that is about it, can you explain how I find out with turning it on? Thanks in advance.
