Hello guys,
I have a ZOTAC GTX970 (ZT-90101-10P) and I'm having a issue:
Yesterday, when I was playing Arma 3 (a quite GPU taxing game), the game started to glitch: there was white polygons on screen (of various sizes and geometries), or blobs depending on game and on GPU humour. I noticed this on other heavy games too, and then on stress tests. Light games/Windows/Youtube show no issues at all.
To make the story short: changed driver; dual boot linux, had the same issue there; checked all my components (memsticks, etc.); undid CPU OC (only OCed component); checked cables; checked PSU voltages on load with a multimeter (all normal).
I managed to end the problems with a GPU core downclock, but just for some time - now I have to downclock it further to end the artifacts (changing memo clocks has no effect). To make things worse: I modded the BIOS to see if higher voltages would help, reduce clocks, etc... Besides the temporary fix above (reducing clocks), nothing had any effect at all.
There was some hours that it worked ok on any game (straight 2hrs on normal clocks - 1278 boost; then glitches even on stock non-boost clocks), all this happened in the last 24hrs.
But wait, there's more! Just some hours ago I noticed that when the game glitches the coil whine reduces (this card has a loud whine - but, by the reviews, it's a normal thing), and I noticed on GPU-Z and Afterburner that the power consumption stays at 50-80% instead of jumping to 100-110% as the card did before. Also, when the cards runs ok the power consumption stays normal. On all cases - artifacts or card without issues - the card throttles on VRel and VOp.
The temps are normal, and my previous card was an OCed 280x - way more power hungry than this, never had any issue. My PSU is a Corsair VX550.
Do any of you guys have an idea what can it be? I'll test the card on a friend's PC later this week, but wanted to know if someone had a similar issue.
Thank you!
