I'm interested in building my first gaming PC and would like to keep it around $600. Which one would work better for playing games like H1Z1 and minecraft? Intel i5-4590 or i3-4150? (or any others) Would you get the i3 and get a better GPU? or just get the i5 and get a decent GPU? Also, what video card would you suggest? And should I get a SSD like 256gb? along with a smaller HDD? or just get one 1tb HDD? I don't need a monitor, mouse or keyboard.

Thanks for your input!

The FX-6300 and the FX-8320 are both fine processors. The problem in this situation is that if you pick one of those processors, it will exceed your budget. Plus, eight cores for just gaming is overkill and unnecessary.

And about the fan problem: That is why you get a good aftermarket CPU cooler. The stock CPU coolers are bad unless you are doing common office work.
I'd recommend getting an i5 and an average video card. If you have enough, I would recommend upgrading to an i5 4690k. That processor has overall better performance than the i3 and the i5 4590. For a graphics card I would recommend the GTX 750ti or the Radeon R9 280x for good performance. As for storage, its really up to you. I would recommend an SSD and a smaller hard drive, as a hard drive is something that can be added in later.
