I am looking for a pc around $500. I am willing to build it myself. Would like a well-rounded machine that can handle normal day-to-day tasks like web browsing and music/video streaming.

This Is the case I really want. The most I'm willing to spend on this build is $650, but I only need a casual computer.

I have everything I need but the desktop itself.
I would prefer an AMD processor, 8GB's of RAM, and Windows 7.
This is what I managed to throw together.

Thanks for the help!

Pah... AMD isn't THE way to go. Whoever told you that must be a fanboy. AMD at this price is very logical, but sets a controversy since people think Intel is better for gaming at this price, yet the FX-6300 is also good. P.S.: Hilarious I have a AMD logo as my avatar, hmm? x)

But yes, the build I listed will do fine in the games.
Why AMD? For gaming there are better and more single-thread powerful CPUs.

I've been told by several people that AMD is the way to go.
But it's only a preference.
If you feel there are better alternatives I'm down.
