Why All The DeathAdder Hate In FPS?

I've noticed lots (and lots) (and lots more) hate for the Razer DeathAdder. I understand the feel of the ergonomic shape isn't for everyone but the hate just keeps coming! I have used a DeathAdder 3.5G and a 4G and I have loved both. No double-click, no jumpiness, no acceleration. If you get a non-defective mouse (while I understand that's the difficulty) it feels great if you have a claw grip. I'm not a claw user but I like the shape fine for my fingertip grip.

I am interested to see your opinions and which mice YOU think are truly good for FPS (CS:GO, etc.)

Because the older models of it break very, very easily, and even on the newer ones, the mouse wheel dies after about a year.

I've never seen hate against it because of its shape; it's modeled after the old Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0, which is a nigh-legendary mouse.

Its issue is simply that it breaks fairly quickly, even if you treat everything well.

You can easily just get any $10 mouse you can get at the convineant stores but it isn't very good. You can try to get a cougar 200m if you have a budget or you can get my favourite mouse the cougar 700m for about $89

I've been using my 'DeathAdder' (Black Edition) for almost a year now and have had no issues with it except that the rubberized coating continues to flake off. I also like the larger form factor being that I do have larger hands and am a palm type user.

I'll throw in my "two cents". I have the Left-handed version of the Death-Adder and it turned out to be the worst mouse I've ever owned. Don't get me wrong...it felt great in my hand and movements were ultra smooth. However, that version of the mouse had a serious design flaw: It's hardwired in "reverse" at the factory. Even though I'm left-handed and use the mouse in my left hand, I use use the Right & Left Mouse buttons like right-handed people... and having them hardwired in reverse was awful for me because... even if you reverse the buttons back in the software... some games ignored my settings and defaulted to the hardwired layout of those buttons.. and there's no way to switch them back in the game. I couldn't even play Battlefield 3 or Skyrim because of this.

The only solution to this would be a sliding lever under the mouse that would switch the buttons for you... but such a left-handed mouse does not exist.... yet.

Why do you like that mouse so much?

I looked it up and couldn't help but laugh at the "Muzzle Brake SR". It says: "Extended metal tube inspired from the weapon can extend the durability of the cable during violent play and provide the better flexibility of the cable for smoother motion".

Have you gotten violent with your mouse lately?

It is actaully pretty comfortable in my hand and pretty smooth. I also love the look of it and it's one of those things where you like it but you can't explain why much. I just... Like it.

Thanks, was just curious. Looks like it could be a decent mouse.

Oh it isn't decent. It's awesome. It's totally worth the $90 in my opinion.

That Cougar 700M looks very nice, only thing that turned me off a bit was it being sort of made for FPS but I'm sure the sniper or fire button could be mapped to anything else. I think I'm going to be buying a new keyboard/mouse setup around Christmas this year so I've been looking and keeping a few in mind. I've used a Logitech G510 and G700 (now G700S) for 2 or 3 years and I love them but it's getting about time for something fresh.

@OP For me I think Razer products in general aren't taken very seriously. When I see something Razer I immediatley think cheap, plastic, plastered with the word GAMER, and tossed on a Gamestop shelf. I'm sure they have some decent products somewhere, they're just a little too expensive to take the chance on considering the many forum threads about problems.

I would agree that the Razer marketing is way too "xXx_MLG_N00B_SLAYA_1337_xXx", just like the Logitech G, and the build quality of the Logitech G is better. I would also like to point out that before the Razer marketing switched full-on to that (making their own keyboard switches and all that Chroma nonsense and whatnot) their mice were very good. I know that many Razer mice DOA (some of my friends had that happen to them), but I have always gotten a mouse that works. I must say, the names are ridiculous, with themes (mice=snakes, headsets=water beasts and a dragon, keyboards=spiders) Death Adder? What the hell? I prefer the styling on some different mice as well, but overall I must be blessed by the Razer gods as I have never gotten a mouse from them that didn't work. I had a jumpiness issue but it turned out my friend had used it aggressively and broken it! I dunno; different strokes for different folks. I have heard some great things about the Rival (and the Sensei, but it is laser).

Besides, I got it on sale for $30 and I wouldn't have even DREAMED of getting it for its full price ($70 at the time).
I must say, "FPS mice" with sniper buttons are a bit of a gimmick. The button only does a DPI clutch and isn't that useful if it's in the way...
