My specs
- MSI 990fxa gd80 mobo
-8350 amd cpu
- hi100i water cooler
-gtx 760 gpu
-700 watt PSU
-16Gb Ram Ripjaws 2133mhz
- 2 Tb HHD toshiba
-asus blue ray, dvd, cd burner
This is a new build, the motherboard and cpu were used, but everything else is new. The computer will post and when I go to install windows 8, it will freeze up everytime. Sometimes even when i am not loading windows and i am on the motherboard settings page it will freeze up. I have tried many different things and I will list them, but I was able to load windows 8 once but when it rebooted, it froze again. So windows will try to automatic repair and it will freeze. I set the cd/dvd drive as first boot in bios and tried to install windows again and it froze. The one time I was able to load windows I took out the cmos battery for 15 minutes and it didn't freeze until i rebooted. I am not sure why taking out the cmos battery helped.
This is what I have tried so far:
I have tried using one ram stick and in different slots
Clearing the cmos
I took out the Ram completely to make sure board would do a post error code
I have taken it to two different computer repair stores, Neither store could fix it, but both thought it was the motherboard.
I have replaced the motherboard, the seller of mobo was on ebay, he would not refund the money but replaced it. I am pretty sure its a different board because i wrote down all the numbers on the board. Still the same thing occurs
The bios has the most updated version, but one computer store reset the bios and then updated again. nothing changed
Both computer stores said they tried different HDDs, Ram sticks,Gpu,Psu and cd drives, neither one could interchange the cpu or motherboard but they were sure it was motherboard.
Also I have tried doing this outside the case and on cardboard to make sure it wasn't a short
I have replace the cmos battery as well
Does anyone have any ideas? Also can anyone think of why it seemed to work after i took out the cmos battery? Im lost and so are the computer repair stores. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great day
