Lets say you get a trojan virus. But the hacker has not done anything just yet. is it possible to just remove the storage completely out of your PC and soon replace it with a fresh one, and the hacker won't be able to do anything? After all, they are hiding in your storage drive because you installed it. It sounds hard to just remove the virus completely out of the system, according to everyone but doesn't it make sense to just remove the drive? i mean you might have to reinstall everything (except the virus of course) but its better than having your money stolen from a hacker

It's not just in your 'storage drive'. Once run, it also works its way into the OS.
You need to either eradicate it completely, or wipe the drive(s) and reinstall the OS.

i've heard some viruses aren't as easy to remove just like that. I've heard sometimes you have to reinstall windows or wipe the disk or some other stuff, but i've heard a lot of stuff so idk.

the OS is located in the storage drives, though. so removing the drive will also remove the OS, and say you have another drive lying around, you can use that right?

Either fully eradicate the virus/trojan/whatever, or reinstall the OS. On whichever drive you wish.

so,you would just throw away a perfectly good hdd??malware can be gotten rid of,and not just by running norton or any other magic program.malware can be gotten rid of by first identifying it and then running programs specific to that particular malware.no one program will do this.most trojans ive run across are not that hard to get rid of.
