I recently purchased 980's for my build and with the release of the 980 ti, what do you think the odds are that I can upgrade with the step up program? I bought the cards on April 9th and registered them today. Meaning I have about 30 days.

Solution
The step up program is 1 card for 1 card. If you have 2 gtx 980's you can step up to 2 gtx 980 ti's. The only issue you might have is that you have to step up each card individually, so you might get one card weeks before the other depending on where you are in the queue for each card.

No I think you can as long as it's not two cards for one card. Could be wrong.

Was just hoping anyone with experience knows.

Thanks. I have to purchase an extended warranty to do it though.

Like a 260$ cost to upgrade both cards from SC 2.0 980's to base clock 980 Ti's for me. You think the upgrade is worth at 1440p?

I actually asked myself the same question. I currently have 2 gtx 980 sc's and a 1440p 144hz gsync monitor. I'm already noticing that my current gpu's aren't giving me 60 fps all the time. I decided to step-up to gtx 980 ti's. I also had to purchase the extended warranty, putting my cost at around $260 too. I figured this would future proof me for awhile and when games start being optimized for directx 12, we should see even higher fps.
So i guess to answer your question, I believe it is worth it to upgrade.

Edit.... btw, I also plan on making the leap to 4k sometime next year. I believe these ti's will be perfect for that.

Tell me how your cards do :) Hopefully soon if you can as I have like 30 days to upgrade.
I know for me Witcher 3 pulls, if I'm lucky, 65 Frames with everything including Nvidia Hairworks.

Unfortunately I'm in queue status at the moment. I'll PM you and let you know as I move along the step-up process. Could be days or even months :( I can't complain though, I don't know of any other gpu manufacturers that provide this service. Hopefully I'll get them sooner than later.
