Dear all,

I made some partitions on my portable HDD ( 2Tb) because I wanted to separate some data :

main partition
partition "PS3 backup" (300Gb)
partition "Music" (210Gb)
partition "Repair soft" (125Gb)

Now, I made the changes with EaseUs Partition Master 9.3 and it all worked out fine.
The problem is now that Win 8 doesn't see the other partitions.
In diskmgmt, they are shown, all 3 of them BUT they are outlined in green.( in the legen it states that it is an Extended Partition... now what? :)

I formated the partitions again to FAT 32, to NTFS but still nothing changed...
Please check the screenshot included for more info if I missed something.
I also did an update on the driver of the portable disk but they are up-to-date.

Can anyone please help on this? :) thanks in advance

By the way just for future reference, if you try making more than 4 partitions,
Convert it to GPT, because GPT allows you to have up to 128 partitions!
Have more questions about it, send me a pm.

Glad I could help.

Have you tried using the "shrink" option on your disk 3 (Seagate K: ) and using the unallocated space as new simple volumes?

Here's some screenshots, I tried to emulate what you tried to do and using the "shrink" option in disk management, it allowed me to make more partitions and windows notices them.

I'll give it a try, give a minute :)
I did the shrinking using the EaseUS software, I'll try again in windows because the thing that I don't understand is as follows :

When doing the same operations on a HDD in my compute, it works, why shouldn't it work on a portable HDD? because it's detected by USB? or is it the disk format? MDR, GPT, ...?

If you don't have any important data on your external at this moment, convert it to GPT if it still doesn't allow you to partition it 4 times.
