i got an i5 750 recently from a friend and i wanted to swap it into my current setup with i5 661. Did a straight swap but the build wont even start up. there seems to be power running through the fans and all.

when i revert to 661, wont even get past the windows loading screen. changing the SATA in BIOS from IDE to ACHI seem to fixed that and i am logged in now!
so my question is, what to i need to do now so that i can make the 750 work in my current setup?

current rig,
i5 661
asus p7p55d
radeon 6870 1gddr5
1tb wd black
muskin silverline 4gb 1 stick

my initial check in the bios shows i'm at the latest ver 2101, as stated on asus drivers website. however when i look at the specifics, the driver date in my bios shows 20 oct 2011, while the website shows 6 nov 2012. i downloaded the latest one and tried but it shows 'no update module found in the file'

i have another exact same mobo from a friend, and that mobo's bios is still dated 2009 but it runs the 750. i am out of ideas

ok i found the problem: RAM. somehow the 750 cant work with my mushkin sliverline, swapped it with a pair of kingston and everything is working well so far. hopefully no more issues after this!
