currently using asus p7p55d, fully updated to latest ver 2101 (year 2011). Got another same mobo from friend that came with his i5 750. his mobo is still at ver 0209 (year 2009). wanted to update the bios so i went to asus website and downloaded the drivers, load up asus ezflash, but when i click on the extracted roms it just came up with something saying incompatible file.

where should i get relevant drivers then? earliest driver i could get from asus website is ver 0501 (2009).

current rig,
i5 661
asus p7p55d
radeon 6870 1gddr5
1tb wd black
muskin silverline 4gb 1 stick
windows 8.1

Solution
It doesn't matter since you'll use EZFlash in the BIOS. You need to select an OS because the same page allows you to download drivers that are tied to a Windows version.

Thanks for the input ,I'll try to find version when I get back from work. The Asus website don't have version 1207. Or do you have a recommended website?

If you really have an Asus p7p55d motherboard, then they certainly have BIOS version 1207: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P7P55D/HelpDesk_Download/ Select your OS, click BIOS to expand it and see all 15 versions. In the middle you'll see:

Version 1207

Description P7P55D BIOS 1207
1.Update JMicron 361 Option ROM
2.Update EZ-flash 2 function
3.Fix some PCIEx1 LAN card can't be detected at PCH PCIEx1 slot.
4.Update CPU Level Up function.
5.Fix CPU power always show 2.5W in EPU software.

I must have missed it due to frustration, thanks for pointing it out. I'm running Windows 8.1 and it's not under the drop-down menu. Is it OK to go for the others category ?

used the drivers from 'Others' section, which is shown as 'Global'. Formatted a USB to FAT32 and managed to read it in EZFlash. BIOS update was successful! Thanks for your help man!
