Combining different ram speeds

So I have 8gb of DDR3 1333mhz ram. I wanted to order another 4gb stick but it's a different speed, 1600. Would it be okay to do this ? Thank you!

It can be done, depending on your motherboard you might just be able to put it in and it will watch it to the other stick, but it very rare.

I would recommend just buying a new dual channel kit. This will save you a whole lot of issues down the road.

what are you dong with your computer? is it just for gaming or more of a cad/photo shop kind of work?

If its just gaming then 1333Mhz and 8Gb is good enough. If you doing more of the cad/ photo shop I would look at a 2x 8GB 1600Mhz or if you have the cash you can pick these up http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226687
