i have an asus k53e laptop bought 2 years ago. Due to a virus infestation...i had to format my hard drive and perform a clean install...but i could not find a version of windows 7 home premium x64 that is usable with my oem key...can somebody help me through getting my laptop back to its original licensed state. i have no backups- a fact i sorely regret now.

When you formatted the OS partition, did you also wipe out the factory restore partition? If not, you should have no issue reinstalling using that.

If you did, then you'll probably need to find somebody with installation media as Microsoft no longer provides free ISO downloads for recovery purposes to users with preinstalled OEM keys.

Most any equivalent Windows 7 installation media should accept your OEM key though, not sure if your trouble is with finding a download or if your key is being rejected when you attempt to install.

You can try the version here, which is an older mirror of the old digitalriver ISO downloads that used to be offered, and see if that works, which it should if your license is valid.
