Hello,

I was on a trip for 7 days and wasn't home. My PC was turned off. I came back and when a program couldn't launch which has scratch disks on the drive, I noticed that my Seagate Expansion external hard drive is missing all of it's files. I accessed the system info and it appears the capacity allocation shows the files to still be there. I tried to show hidden files and folders but still couldn't see them. I tried doing an antivirus scan and also no good.

Please help me I have really valuable data here. The drive is formated as a NTFS file system.

Ok so I tried it and got the following.

The type of the file system is RAW.
Cannot lock current drive.
CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives.

Guys not sure what it was but I restarted my PC and it's back up again. Kudos!

PS. If anything testdisk is a great piece of software, fixed it for most of the guys from what I gathered.

I have had external/USB thumb drives do weird stuff like that before.
