My Build
M/B - Asus Z97-A ATX
CPU - Intel Core i5-4690K
RAM - Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8)
PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA 650G1 650W
HDD - Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB
SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
Case - Phanteks Enthoo Pro Full Tower

So I have 2 GPUs in mind. I would either use 1 EVGA GTX 980 ACX, or 2 Sapphire Radeon R9 290Xs. Would one be better than the other? And why?

290x's would be the most powerful but draw far more power, and ofcourse, multicard issues. What resolution is this for?

Also the Green series drives are slow, not recommended for a gaming pc. You wont fit much more than 4 next gen (eg. witcher/gta v sized) games on the ssd if thats what you were planning

I would go for the 980 unless you really need the extra power for higher resolutions. As drtoast said you can run into issues with Crossfire/SLI which is why I prefer single card setups, especially for 1080p.
