I've had this problem for months with little luck fixing it.

Had a Dell Inspiron 5520 (integrated Intel HD 4000, no AMD). Bought a new motherboard with a discrete graphics card attached (the AMD 7670M [not sure on #s], in addition to the integrated HD 4000). Since then, have had REALLY major issues getting graphics cards to work.

Many times when I reset the computer, I get an error 43 in Device Manager for both graphics cards. I've been periodically able to fix the problem through some combination of uninstalling, reinstalling, telling it to "update" in Device Manager, etc...or so I thought. I was always kind of baffled as to why I saw WORSE performance & graphics after the "upgrade" instead of better...now I have a hunch why.

Until today when I learned about DxDiag. When I ran it which tells me that my laptop is using the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter," with no sign of either the Intel 4000 or the AMD chip.

Stuff I've tried:
-Completely uninstalling and reinstalling both drivers (from both the Dell website and the AMD website)
-Updating the BIOS
-Updating the drivers

If it'd be helpful, I can provide the DxDiag report or screencaps from Device Manager.

Just attempted it. Code 43 messages on both drivers.
