Good evening, I am new to this site and couldn't find forum with this particular scenario.
I have cloned 190GB to my new 240GB SSD using EaseUS Todo Backup Free 8.3. After booting up, I point to the new drive and login. After seeing the startup screen for a few seconds the system freezes. CTR-ALT-DEL doesn't even work. I power down and reboot using safe mode which does work with no problems.
What this is telling me is its a software issue. But its an exact clone from my older drive. I am right now using the older drive to write this forum, should the SSD work the same? Any help will be appreciated. I have been pulling hair all weekend.

Hey there, CodFish85.

Normally you should have no trouble with a cloned drive, but sometimes issues like this one may arise. You could try downloading an SSD diagnostic tool to test the drive and see if any issues pop-up. I'd recommend that you backup any important data you may have on the HDD if you haven't done that already and try to quick format your SSD or secure erase it, then try the cloning process again. But this time when you boot for the first time, I'd suggest that you try this with the HDD disconnected from the motherboard, to see if the same thing happens.
Note that it is always recommended that you do a fresh install of Windows.

Hope that helps.

I have the very same issue: I used EaseUS Todo Cloning to clone a SCSI drive to an eSATA SSD drive; I then attempted to boot on the eSATA drive--but it hangs at the Windows Starting message. The SSD drive periodically blinks three times in orange. I then rebooted to the SCSI drive and ran CHKDSK on the SSD drive. It says it fixed some errors, but the system will still not boot to it properly. Surely someone knows the answer to this problem.
