Hi, with my new PC build everytime I tried to start the PC on a cold boot, everything runs for a split second after i hit the power switch, then shuts down leacing only MB power LED on. To boot the PC I have to switch the PSU off and on once and press the power switch again then everything runs flawlessly. I am wondering whther the problem is with the MB or PSU?

Also could it be the CPU cooler? Since I am using a Cosair H100 liquid CPU cooler, and I pluged both the pump and fans into the power supply of front panel fan controller. I am sure the power is enough to drive the CPU cooler unit because in BIOS the standby CPU temperture is around 30 degree.

Mobo: MSI GD45 PLUS
CPU: Intel i7-4820k

A 1kW PSU is adequate, but something connected might be faulty, and drawing an initial draw of voltage which prompts the motherboard not to post. Since you've been using OC genie, I would go about resetting the bios to factory settings first.

Do u mean the PSU capacity is not enough for the load? But I am using a Cosair RM1000, which I thought would be quite amount of spare capacity. And I tried to start up the PC under default BIOS setting with/without OC setting, turned out the same.

You can reset the bios to factory settings by removing a jumper on MSI boards. Your manual should specify where this is. Power off...remove the jumper, leave it for 30 seconds, reconnect jumper, then power the system back on.

I have had a similar experience using the OC genie button, however in my case, I had set the RAM timings manually also, and it did not agree with the system, even after switching OC Genie off. I had to factory reset to clear this. (You may want to consider doing a memtest on the RAM too)

If you are still getting the issue after bios reset, then you could try to disconnect any unrequired components, ie. additional fans etc. Just in case one of them is faulty.

If you can just have the bare minimum of components connected and get it to boot without the issue, then you can connect the rest one by one until it happens, then you will know what is causing it.

Update to the latest bios for your mobo too.
