Hello everyone,

I'm an architect and i'm planning to build a desktop for work. I'll be using AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3dsMax for rendering, Revit Architecture and Lumion for rendering and a bit of Rhino modeling. Need help on deciding between GTX 970 and K1200. I know K1200 isn't at the league of 970. But on price range, K1200 is only closer. We are already using one PC at our office with GTX 970. It seems to be working fine and lumion is very smooth on that. Can anyone please suggest the right graphics?

Thanks.

This may not be what you want to hear in regards of budget, but the GTX 970 is certainly the card to go with. You could get a cheaper card now, but end up having to get a new card sooner to replace it. In the end, you will pay the same amount.

With the GTX 970, assuming your motherboard will support it, you can SLI later on when the GTX 970 becomes dated. At that time the GTX 970 will drop in price so you can get the power of two 970's for the cost of buy 1, get 1 50% down the road...does that make sense.

If price is really a problem, maybe consider the GTX 960? Those run an average of $200, $100 less than the GTX 970 and you could do the same by adding another to run SLI 960's later on if needed.

In my opinion, if you are going to...

In my opinion, if you are going to update your system, do it right...
