(understand Im nowhere near a networking *proficient* so bare with me. )
To be more specific, The modem router is a Netgear B90 7550 from AT&T that Ive had sitting in a closet for about a year. works fine but I would rather just use it as an access point, so a few questions

1. Are there any particular tutorials for this particular question. ...
(1a. )and if not how do i disable the modem part of the device and use purely the wifi point with ethernet input.
2. I beleive the Access address for the netgear would be exactly the same as my modem (192.168.X.XXX) so how could i safely set this up on the current network without having two browser pages pop up when i try to access just the netgear configuration.

thanks for the help and answers in advance.

sorry for the belated response , I read that but all i want to do is hook the ethernet cable to the device and let it be my wifi without doin anychanges to my current setup which is (isp line ---> modem router --> gateway one line going to main pc one line going to 2nd pc in another room , then I want the third line just dedicated to the wifi output only , I dont want to change any configuration in my routers settingfs just make the other modem /router /wifi act as nothing but a wifi transmitter . thats all i want that device to do.

Right. And if you're using a router to do this, you have to turn off most of the 'router' functions.
Which is basically what that article says to do.

@USEFRet
ok well it had sounded like I need to change the current modem router to accomodate that and to be honest knowing my luck I would screw it up lol so an ounce of precaution is all.

No, you're changing the one used as the access point.
