Hi guys,

I need some help from the Toms Hardware experts. I am at a loss of what could be my problem after doing multiple tests and trying to find the problem. It is a bit of a long scenario, please bear with me.

It started when I came back from holiday and upon starting my pc I started receiving the most random BSOD errors. A different error every time. KERNEL_ to MEMORY_ related errors. Other errors also involved the screen going black or blue with no text and no other option but to cold reboot. After a fresh win 8.1 install and doing a few stress tests and unplugging everything, it was a faulty RAM dim. I replaced both...

Things seemed fine for a day or so when the screen going blank errors started again. At least there was n more BSOD errors. After many more tests I removed my Radeon 7800 and used on-board graphics. Everything worked 100%.

Sometimes though when I plug the graphics card back in it worked 100%. for a day. Other times it works for only 5 minutes before losing view on the screen and displaying only that purple win 8 logon view but no text or anything on it.

Do you guys have any idea what could be wrong with my graphics card?

I cannot perform any tests like heavyload, or Furmark as the screen simply goes dark/black/purple.

It seems the problem is jumping around, the only thing they have in common is the motherboard. You could have an issue with your motherboard somewhere. Have you tried to Flash and Update your BIOS?

Can please post more of your system specs for a more detailed look at what we are dealing with?

I think it is worth mentioning that the screen going blank/purple happens even when I'm running graphics from onboard and the Radeon graphics card is plugged into the PC (on the Motherboard) with only the PCI-Express cables plugged in.

Thank you so much for helping... I managed to get a few hours yesterday without the error popping up. I left the HWMonitor app (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html) running collecting logs. I will upload that shortly..

I also installed latest windows 8.1 updates, and latest graphics catalyst drivers.

I have FURMark that I will run as welll, and upload logs soon.

Hi, an update on this issue...

I ended up replacing RAM and Graphics Card. This fixed matters until Yesterday (2 months alter). I suspect it was another electric surge or something but I am now stuck in the deadly reboot-no-posting loop.

I've tried most of the suggestions here for this error. No luck.

I am now down to it being the Motherboard, or the CPU.

My question is, how can I get any confirmation that it is not the PSU or a corrupt BIOS? I'm already looking at motherboard prices...so over this already. Sick and tired of error handling.

Is the MSI Z97 PC MATE Motherboard a good motherboard for a Intel i5 i5-3570 (3.4GHz, 6M Cache, 4x Cores)? If not what motherboard would you guys recommend?
