Is it worth upgrading from the GTX 760 to the GTX 960?

I have a GTX 760 FTW 4gb, and the 960 I want to buy is SC 2gb. Do you think it's worth it to buy the 960, and then give the 760 to my friend who needs an upgrade? I play games such as: GTA V, Guild wars 2, Smite, and Battlefield.

the r9 290 is a amazing card, I was considering getting 2 of them but landed on a gtx 980.
if you can get a r9 290 get one, but remember they are pretty hot.
and the 290 and 970 are about the same but I've had better overclocking on the 290, also when i say about the same the 290 is above the...

no, the extra Vram will be better for you. the 2gb Vram on the 960 is worthless theses days.

I did NOT mean to offend any 680 uses unless your name is Jay AKA Jayz2cents... look at you with you 3 titan X's.
Ok back on topic its not worth an upgrade, maybe gtx 760 to gtx 970, but not 960.

Your 760 has been on the top performer list for the money list for a long time. The 960 gets recognition because it uses less power than the previous generations without sacrificing performance when you compare cards of the same tier, but it does not really perform any better. It is not a worthwhile upgrade from your 760 performance wise.

So what if I were to get a 960 4gb one? Would it worth it then? If not, what is better a 970 or a 290? My price limit is around maybe 310 dollars.

and the 290 and 970 are about the same but I've had better overclocking on the 290, also when i say about the same the 290 is above the 970 by about 1-3Fps in most tests I've done and seen.

and the 960 4gb is really a gimmick, In very VERY few games will a 960 be powerfull enough to be able to use the full 4gb.

see if you buy the 2gb it won't be much of an upgrade.
if you buy the 4gb the memory would be bottle necked by the power of the card it self.

if you buy a 970 remember to get a newer model as some of the older models are "flawed" and only have 3.5gb usable.

if you buy a 290 you need to get a aftermarket cooler version because the 290's run hot.

So, which 290 and 970 is best? Please post a link if you can.

Actually, all 970s still have the 3.5+500 mb segmentation. And at 1080p, it beats the 290.

My recommendation is a 970 but make sure you have a quality PSU

I've had ones that have the 3.500+500Mb on older model's that Wouldn't use all 4gb.
and I've had new models that do use all 4gb, But I haven't seen any of the release day models use all 4gb.

That's what I meant, I did't mean that they weren't made the same and that they fixed the problem.
And Yes I never recommended anything but over all at 1080p I would go with the gtx 970.
Also thank you for correcting me Bossyfins, I Only game at 1440p or higher so I wasn't even considering 1080p.
and Yes at 1080p the 970 does pull ahead in some cases.
