PC Specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5 4460 3.2GHz
RAM: Balistx Sport 2x4GB
PSU: Croshair TX 750
GPU: MSI 960 Gaming 2GB
MOBO: MSI B85M-E45
Case: Antec P182

When I play games from Blizzard (Heroes of the storm and Starcraft II) and the Farcry series my CPU temp does not go above 65 degrees celsius, but when I launch Battlefield 4 it rises to 74+. Intel says 72 and above is entering the danger zone, could the high temprature harm my PC?
Is my rig not good enough or is this a case of a new cooler and reapplying thermalpaste? (Computer is about 5 months old)

Thanks in advance!

I don't think those temps are alright. Don't you notice the CPU fan spinning at full speed? I'd check the fans (including the case fans) out, check whether there's too much paste on the CPU, reseat the CPU and the CPU cooler. What is your CPU use while gaming?
The actual culprit could very well be your room temperature
