4790K overclocking capabilities on Noctua NH-D14 cooler.

I want to overclock the CPU but I'm not sure how far I can push it with my Noctua NH-D14 cooler. Air circulation in my full case is great, can use turbo on all the fans so they're cooling everything nicely. The question is, how far can I push it (so it's stable and all). 4.0 is stock clock 4.4 with with boost. How far can I push stock clock? Thanks in advance.

And many people have but every CPU is unique. You won't know what it can do at what voltage until you try it. Voltage = Heat.

My i7-4770k is a particularly poor overclocker and require just under 1.3 volts to reach 4.3Ghz. I7-4790k runs at 4.4Ghz with about 1.225 volts on the average when left alone, but I have seen both higher and lower numbers.

A quick test would be to fire up CPU-Z and run an Intel Burn In test and see what the voltage gets up to. When you have that baseline you should be able to extrapolate out if there is room for improvement based on the voltage reached and the CPU temperature.

Basic rule of thumb is to keep the CPU below 70C, though 80C is a safe everyday value, and keep the voltage under 1.35 volts.

Depends on the CPU, so you will just have to start increasing the clock and voltage until you reach instability or a thermal limit.

I've seen people reach 4.7Ghz on air several times. 4.8Ghz and up usually involved custom water cooling.
