I'm getting conflicting info about the Radeon R7 250X 2GB compared to the Nvidia GTX 660. Some sources say that they are comparable, but one source has now said that the 660 is much better. I play WoW at 1920x1080 resolution but do nothing else game-wise. I am looking to replace my 660.

The GTX 660 is already a very old card, which was released way back in July 2012. You may not get proper driver support/updates for games that comes in future. I would say get the R7 250X 2GB GDDR5, which was released in Feb 2014.

Get any one of the following based on what your budget allows:

R7 250X (Can't be considered as an upgrade from GTX 660. But definitely time wise newer than the older GTX 660)

660 should be replaced with a 960 if you want to stay in that pricing tier. GTX760 and GTX670 are basically no longer worth the price compared to the architecture enhancements of Maxwell.

With the right power supply a GTX970 or GTX980 is also an option. GTX980Ti is available, but that requires, in general, another step up in power supply.

I am very grateful for all of your input. I am looking to get away from Nvidia if possible, as I have been frustrated by driver issues. Is it a consensus here that the R7 265 is a more comparable card as a replacement for the 660?

The GTX 660 is going to be a bit faster than a 265. If you do switch to AMD, you might just be the first person to do so for the drivers. It's usually the other way around.

Here are the real world performance chart for R7 265, which is better than 660:

Having said that there are games where the GTX 660 does well only slightly better than R7 265. So an upgrade from GTX 660 to R7 265 may not be a good choice. But you could also see from the same charts above, the R9 270X is a better choice. It really shows some promising performance and does better than both R7 265 and GTX 660.

If you're really on budget get the R9 270X I mentioned in my previous comment that is right now available for a steal price of $124.99, where as the R7 265 is $122.98.

Cheers!
