Hey guys, i came here today with another question.

I have a Seagate ST3500418AS 7200RPM 500GB HDD. I wanted to know, if i change for the newer one, the 1TB Version Sata III, would improve the Speed? I have a Sata III motherboard. Thanks.

Not really. If you want speed then you'll have to opt for for an SSD. I have a 10K RPM Velociraptor connected to a SATA3 port and I honestly can't tell much of a difference from my 3TB harddrive connected to a SATA2 port on my motherboard.

If you were thinking of spending money for speed... it would be waste with mechanical hard drives. Spend it instead on SSD's if you want or need speed.. and keep what you currently have.
