Hello! I have a laptop here, specifically a Compaq (HP) Presario CQ60, that is having some issues. It was brought to me because the keyboard and trackpad stopped working, which indeed they do not work. I noticed, however, that the keyboard worked in the BIOS and to select safe mode in Windows (After mashing F8). But, the keyboard nor trackpad works in Windows, or in safe mode. It is running Windows Vista SP 2 x32 with 3gb of RAM. The laptop was infected pretty bad, but after running Revo Uninstaller over a few programs, a rootkit scan, and MBAM - I feel that it is clean.

In device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to four drivers. The first is the "Generic PnP monitor" under the Monitors tab, two and three are the "AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-64" under that Processors tab, and finally under System Devices, is "PCI standard ISA bridge". Each say "This driver for this device might be corrupted, or your system may be running low on memory or other resources. (Code 3)". I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling these drivers - but they come back with the same error.

I really want to get this laptop out of here, but I am not sure what else to do. Any help would be much appreciated.

Good idea! Ill probably run SFC first though to check the filesystem integrity. I have already ran some antivirus scans too, but it can't hurt to double check! Ill follow up on a chkdsk soon thereafter. Thanks!
