So I purchased a new 100ft Ethernet cable, and I lay it down the path I want from my router to my pc, no one has stepped on it, and I plug the first end into the pc, works great and it recognizes it. Now I plug it into the router, and the router doesn't recognize it, help?

Power off or unplug your router. Wait 30 secs before turning it back on/plugging it back in with the Ethernet cable still connected from your PC to your router.

Give it about 2 minutes to connect to the router after its been powered on.

Quick question: Why don't you plug it into your modem port instead of your router?

I don't know what that means, but what you said did not work.

try it on a diferent port of your router if that still dosent work try running a conductivity test with a multi meter on the cable... could be the cable is not wired properly of has a split in the cable
