I recently built a new computer for gaming, and when I gamed for the first time on it, the sound from the front using the headphone jack was nasally and unclear. When I switched to the microphone jack, the audio was fine, but i could not use the microphone with the headphones. I am using an MSI A88XI mainboard, with an athlon x4 860k chip. Is it an issue of driver updates or connection/software issues, or is there something else going on?

Did you update the driver to the latest?
The front audio jack is separately plugged into the motherboard, unlike the rear that is direct into the MB. I would check on that connection and make sure this is fully connected.
