So this started about 3-4 months after getting the computer, i first noticed it while playing league of legends, it would just crash during game. I then found out it was happening on more than just league like portal 2, mount and blade: warband etc. The weird thing is i managed to sort it for league.. by simply changing it too border less windowed mode which didn't make sense to me but i went with it. I later decided to try it for the other games to test my luck, sadly it didn't work the same, does anyone have any ideas i am relatively new to computers so don't know a great deal and i haven't tried much tests recently i just don't know what to do :/

PC specs are :
Intel Core i5 2.8GHz Processor
AMD Radeon R7 240
8GB RAM
64 bit Windows 8.1

Any help whatsoever would be great thanks so much in advance :)

It crashes the whole system in a sense as the screen goes couloured dots and i can still hear the audio looping for my game, but i can still talk if i was in a skype call and hear them, it just stays like that until i shit i down manually. Im looking at the sticker on the PSU but not sure what actually describes what it is, sorry again not too great with computers, first time doing this

Im not sure if it passed or not i done the benchmark pre set at 1080 and it got through it al-right by the looks of things, is that what i was supposed to do?

Have you done the Furmark test? For how long? Which was the temperature of the GPU?

If your PC passed Furmark test GPU should be good.

I dont know how long to do it for, the benchmark test went through to 100% and the temp was around 60, should i just do the one that keeps going, the stress test?

Im guessing there would be a notification that it didnt pass, because i just got a score at the end of the 1080 benchmark test not sure if thats what i need to check with?

Ill run the test for a good while and see what happens

1) Try Furmark for about 20-60 minutes. If it fails, the GPU will crash like it happens in your games. If temperature dont go over 65-70c that's good. Post the temperature when you know.

2) If it passes Furmark, we need to test your CPU. So, run Prime95 in Blend Mode for 20-60 minutes and post what happens.

^^ Very good, so we rule out the GPU. It seems running well.

Now with the Prime95, we will see if the CPU is good too. Check the temperatures also again. Prime95 will test RAM too (in blend mode).

Okay, what am i looking at during the test, there are 4 windows each with lots of writing within them, do i just leave it for the time then stop it and it will it summarise the outcome or will it say within these windows later on in the test?

Just let it working during like 1h. While it does that you can check the CPU temperatures with some software. (Core Temp, Open Hardware Monitor... etc) It will not display a log later. Prime95 push the CPU to 100% workload so if the pc doesn't crash with that the CPU is fine.

So i left the test for 40mins to an hour and when i came back to it i tried to download the Core Temp and when i went to load it the computer froze, i couldnt click or do anything apart from move the mouse, im not sure if this was because i tried to use Core Temp as it was running and something happened, but the test was going fine until i tried to do that. Mean anything?

When you tried to open Core Temp, Prime95 was running?

It froze 100%? You had to restart? It shouldn't froze.

I'm sorry you have to do soooooooo many tests, but a PC crash can be caused by many things:

-Ram
-CPU
-GPU
-mobo
-drivers
-temperatures
-hdd
-PSU
-problems with operating system
etc...

Im not sure what it was at but it was okay when i came back but when i loaded core temp everything froze, it was going for about an hour prior so im not sure if that effected it a lot to cause the freeze?

So should i just test each part when i can to see if i find any issues? I first thought it would be a GPU error due to a visual crash with the monitor as i still heard audio just couldnt do anything else and have to turn it off manually in order to restart

Its okay ill do it all when i can, i really appreciate you taking your time to help me so thank you ever so much for that :)
