Hey everyone, I've recently bought a bunch of new parts to build a new computer the parts include:
Cooler Master Nepton 280L
ThermalTake Core V41
MSI Gaming 5
I7-4790k
EVGA 850 Gold PSU
R9 280x (x2)
Now I've read in a few places (this site included) that a cross fire setup with automatically switch to x8/x8, but I've also found contradictory information stating that it will indeed run in x16/x8. I know the performance increase from the 2 is minimal but the more I can get the merrier I will be. With my setup provided above is it possible to get a 100% clear yes it will run in x16/x8, or no it wont? I was also curious if it does indeed drop to x8/x8 if it was possible to load balance the 2 GPU's seeing as the second doesnt kick in untill the primary is nearly at 100% use, I sorta thought that switching to x8/x8 would be a performance drop for games that really didnt demand the 2nd GPU considering its running with half the bus lanes, is this too incorrect? a little insight anybody?
