Hi, first PC build here, got some problems.

So I built everything, the stand-offs were pre-installed, mounted correctly. No bent pins, CPU fan clearly put on and stable, RAM has been taken out twice and reinserted properly. CMOS battery taken out thrice and reinserted. 500W Power Supply, brand spanking new, voltage being given out, absolutely no beeps whatsoever.

What the problem is that when I turn on the computer, the CPU fan comes on, the LED fans come on, everything is on but there is no display. An additional problem is that the computer itself turns on for around 20 seconds - 30 seconds then turns off, after it immediately turns back on, then off again and then on again.

If anyone could please tell me what the problem is, I would be delighted and give you tons of hugs.

Solution

listen. the motherboard has a socket which is compatible

however, the motherboard was released BEFORE the devils canyon haswell refresh chips, which the g3258 is part of. As a result, while, with a bios update that motherboard will work with that cpu, without a bios update that motherboard will not recognize the cpu and will not work.

your main problem is that cpu isn't inherently compatible with that motherboard.

in short the motherboard is older then the cpu and doesn't identify the cpu.

you'll need to update the bios on the motherboard, which means you'll need a cpu that will work in that motherboard, or return the board to the vender and buy one that will work out of the box.

Well I've marked Ingtar as right, the version on the motherboard is 1.3 but I need 1.6 to use G3258.
I don't know if its any at all possible, I don't have another Haswell CPU around but is there anyway to install the BIOS without the CPU?

Seems like another way which I'm probably going to do that.
Thank you for all your help!

Not too happy with my first PC build experience right now, but at least I got the actual building of a PC right the first time.
Was very much looking forward to that 4GHz overclocking on it ;)
