Using my 3TB Seagate Hard drive, WET tells me my Asus Windows 7 old files (129GB) won't fit into the 320GB available on my new Windows 8.1 C Drive on my Dell Inspiron. Whassup? TIA John
This might be due to different versions of Windows, especially if one OS is 32-bit and the other 64-bit.
Here's an example:
Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit version of Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. If you're transferring from a 64-bit version of Windows Vista to a 32-bit version of Windows 7, you can move your files manually or use Backup and Restore in Windows Vista.
You could use an external drive and simply copy-paste the files on it and then copy-paste them on your new laptop's HDD. The programs would have to be reinstalled though.
