Upgrade my GPU vs CPU ?

First of all I just want to apologize if this is in the wrong section

I have a pretty low end gaming pc, and it is definitely not cutting it for a lot of the games I'm playing, specifically Dayz, Modded Skyrim, and Ark Survival Evolved. So I've been saving up some money and I have about 270$ saved up, and I was wondering if I should use that on a better GPU or CPU, and what GPU or CPU specifically.

Pc Specs
CPU : Intel i3 - 4330 @ 3.5 Ghz
Motherboard : Gigabyte H87
Ram : Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB @ 1600Mhz
GPU : Nvidia GT 620
Case *For GPU clearance reasons*: Thermaltake Versa H22
Power Supply : Corsair CX 500 (Just wanted to say damn, this thing jumped 20$ from when I bought it)

All help is much appreciated!

Solution
Actually have enough power supply overhead for any decent Nvidia single GPU.

GTX960 ($200) is in your budget and is a huge step up from the GTX750 or 750Ti

Can I ask your reasoning behind the 750 TI? I can spend another ~120$ or on a GPU, up to something like a GTX 960. Does my power supply not clear it?

Thanks for the help!
Any recommendation on a specific GTX 960?

Not been tracking them much lately. Enthusiast seem to be sticking with the GTX970 as a minimum.

Of later generation cards I have only owned ASUS and EVGA. (8800GTS, GTX285 BFG, but they don't exist anymore, GTX580, GTX980) MSI, Gigabyte, PNY, Elements, 3DFX and others in the past.

I would say that if you wanted the most performance for the money without having to overclock some of the EVGA SC or SSC versions will offer the higher clock frequencies. Cooling is somewhat non-critical as these are only 120W parts.

I couldn't agree more. The GT 620 is really low on the spectrum and anything from even a 650 and up is going to be a massive improvement from what you are likely getting right now. However, depending on budget, if you really want to step it up, you may want to get a 960 or even 970 as they can be used in a rig with that PSU. You are already on the very lean end of total system power needed. Your CPU only draws 54 watts and even a 970 will only draw about 145 watts. Total system would be under 500 even with 3 HDDs and an ODD. Here the links for the specs on potential GPUs with the minimum power supply listed at the bottom of each page.

You definitely want to stay under 500W as much as comfortable, unless you plan on getting a larger PSU in the near future. Good luck!
