External hdd to internal

Hi, i have an external hdd (wd my book essential 1 tb) but the usb port has broken. So i removed the hdd from the external case and i connected it internaly. When i start my pc it restarts all the time. I am using win 7 and i don't want to lose the data doing a format. Thnx in advanced

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(
Unfortunately, this is a model that has hardware encryption. This means that you will not be able to access the data in case the drive is outside the enclosure. In my view, in case the data is really important, you will need to contact a data recovery company in order to retrieve the data stored on the drive. You can check WD's Data Recovery Partners out.
On the other hand, if your format the drive, you will lose the data stored on the drive, but this will remove the encryption and you may be able to use the drive afterwards(in case it is in a healthy condition and doesn't have proprietary connector).

It may be a good idea to wait for some more...
