I am starting my first build off and it will be used for gaming... I found a great deal on the amd fx 8320 but would it be powerful enough for the newer games and windows 10? I know the gpu has the biggest impact but i don't want any bottlenecks from the cpu, I also have heard about a new generation of AMD processors... So should I wait for a new series or purchase the amd fx 8320.. Also, does anyone have any recommendations on other comparable cpus and what would be a good choice for a graphics card?

Solution
The FX-8320 and FX-8350 are both okay CPUs for playing games. There are a lot of Intel CPUs that performs better than those AMD CPUs in games and that includes Intel CPUs that cannot be overclocked.

It's best to state your budget.

The FX 8320 is fine.
There's also some intel CPUs that are better.

Please state your budget, where you're from and what type of gaming you'll be hoping to do, eg resolution, settings, fps, type of games etc.
We'll recommend a build based on that.
If you already have a build in mind, you can put it through pcpartpicker and we'll check it out.

I have an fx-8350 and i can say that it works well with games, multi tasking and basic operations but i would advise going intel, the 8350 creates alot alot alot of heat, i put in a hyper 212 evo a little while back and it can barely hold stock clock speed while at full load. im not saying that a 8320 would be bad but i would advise getting a nice i5/i7.

I would recommend going with the FX-8350, as a new generation of AMD CPUs would take maybe a few weeks to months to years to be released, and in which it won't be much better than the current top AMD CPUs. If you are looking to run Windows 10 on gaming without any problems, I would suggest an Intel 4790K. And, if you want to get a budget CPU, get the FX-8350 or FX-8320.

I also suggest a GeForce GTX 780 Ti for the GPU, as it has better benches than the GTX 970.
You can also go to partpicker and put together your computer parts and it will tell you if our computer will have any compatibility issues.

AMD - Budget, but good CPUs
Intel - More expensive, high end CPUs for top performance

I'm currently running the FX 8320 at 5ghz, Single core performance isn't there, but I paid (Black Friday) $99 for the chips so..... Never really had a problem with it, I run 2x 780ti's with it as well, in some games yeah its a bottleneck, GTA 5 I see both GPU at 99%. Every game has been more then playable that I play.

But I'd expect a $300 chip to beat a $99 - $140 chip.
