To be very short shall i buy the Saphire Vapor X R9 290 or the EVGA GTX 970 SC? :??:

i have:
Intel core i5 4570
8GB Ram Gskill
Corsair CX 750
128GB SSD
1TB HDD
MSI Z87 gaming motherboard
and currently a Corsair 300r case but im gonna upgrade to Corsair 780t

im completely stuck, i love Nvidia but the R9 290 is a bit cheaper and very fast + the Sapphire looks great! :wahoo:

It really depends how you play. If you want to game at 1440p or 4k, You should go with the R9 290, But if you game at 1080p the GTX 970 will definetly out perform the R9 290,

The R9 290 is my solid opinion though, my reasons:

1. "Future proof" (If you ever move to 4k)
2. No VRAM issues
3. I am a AMD Fan :)

I've been using an R9 270 DCIIOC, and have never had issues with the drivers or anything. All benchmarks show the 970 as statistically better, and NVidia generally draws less power but are more expensive. You can spend the extra to go Nvidia, but I don't think you'd be disappointed with a 290. Prices are falling though, and patience can be a virtue.
