Hi Guys, i need your help, i just bought an asus laptop with a 1 Tb hdd and a 120Gb ssd, i formated both, and now i can't install windows on either one of them, i read online that i have to disconnect the hdd in order to install windows on the ssd, but i can't, it's too risky, there is no little place to open and get the hdd i will need to open the whole thing which i can't, is there any other solution to install windows on ssd while the hdd is connected?

Hi there garfield69,

You can try cleaning and formatting your SSD before installing Windows on it.
You can do so the following way:

Once in Windows setup, hit shift+F10 to bring up the command line.
>diskpart [enter]
>list disk [enter]
From the list above (assuming you have more than one HD installed, if not it'll be the only one), find the number corresponding to your HD.
>select drive [number] [enter]
>clean [enter]
>create partition primary [enter]
>select partition 1 [enter]
>active [enter]
>format fs=ntfs [enter]
>assign [enter]
>exit [enter]
>exit [enter]

The same way, you can clean your HDD before the installation as well.

Hope this will help,

I had already tried that by the time i made this post and it didbt work however later i deleted all partitions and cleaned qgain both ssd and hdd then rebooted and i was able to install w8. But i dont want to have to clean the hdd to everytime i need to install windows since ill be keeping my files on the hdd. What can i do

I believe that some BIOSes have the option to disable certain SATA ports. You can check whether this is possible in your laptop's/MOBO manual.
In case it is not, then I guess you can contact the laptop's manufacturer. Maybe they will be able to help out. :)
