Hi Guys
I will be making a new build soon and i have plans of going 2 gtx 980ti in sli but what watts should my psu be for just these 2 cards i do have a decent mobo and cpu the mobo is the Asus Rampage black and the cpu is a core i7 4820k

i do plan on overclocking this build so what cards should i get just the stock gtx 980 ti or a gtx 980ti superclocked? but remember i will be running the 2 cards in SLI and eventually over clocking them

Please note the build is not yet started i have the mobo and cpu sitting at home with me and im saving to purchase the rest of the items ill make a list of what is going to be in it apart from the cards as im not sure if i should go superclocked or normal

NZXT 410 MidTower Case
cpu core i7 4820k
Asus Rampage black DDR3 mobo
Samsung 850 Pro Series 256GB SSD
Corsair Dominator Platinum CMD8GX3M2A1866C9 DDR3 ill have a total of 16gb
Corsair AX860 Platinum Power Supply
Western Digital WD Black WD3003FZEX 3TB x2 for a total of 6gb
LG CH12NS30 12X BD-R Blu-Ray DVD Combo Drive
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit OEM
Corsair Hydro Series H105 Liquid CPU Cooler
EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Superclocked 6GB or non superclocked and 2 cards in SLI

Thanks in advanced

Nick

Each of those video cards is being supplied with up to 375 watts. That is the extreme maximum power it can use. Double that is 750 watts.

The rest of your system probably uses less than 200 watts. So if I were looking for a power supply, I would look for something like a 1200 watt power supply just to make sure the power supply was never being pushed to its limits. A well designed and built 1000 watt power might work too, but when you could potentially draw 950 watts, I would would a bigger power supply.

I also prefer Seasonic power supplies. I believe they are the best made power supplies on the planet. And when getting a power supply, you will save money over time by buying a gold rated or better power supply.

thanks guy but im changing my build a little bit by going with the rm1000 psu and corsaid 750d case im not 100% on the memory that i wrote either im thinking
Corsair Dominator Platinum CMD8GX3M2A1866C9 DDR3
or
Corsair Dominator Platinum 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 2133MHz
and i do plan on having a total of 16gb memory? which would be better for my build

Latency on the bottom set? Probably very little real world difference between them. If the second set is CL11 or 12 the top might be faster, but both will provide similar scores. Unless the second is CL9 as well then the bottom would be faster.

Can't say which is better, but 1000w platinum should be enough for sli 980 ti.
