I've been looking into building my own gaming desktop and was able to compile a list of components that I may be planning to use. I think it may work together but I am not completely sure and was wanting to ask the community to see what you guys have to say. I am getting the parts from my local Microcenter store and the grand total for me is $1180.89.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz LGA 1150 ($199.99)
MB: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI LGA 1150 ATX Intel MB ($124.99)
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB GDDR5 ($369.99)
Coolant: Corsair Hydro Series H100i Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler ($119.99)
Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-01 Mid Tower ($47.99)
HDD": WD Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA III 6.0GB/s 3.5" HDD ($79.99)
Power Supply: Corsair CX Series CX600M 600 Watt ATX Modular Power Supply ($69.99)
RAM: Kingston HyperX blu 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3-1866 ($69.99)
Fan: Corsair Air Series AF120 LED Quiet Edition Case Fan - going to replace the stock fan on the case ($15.99)
Extras: Samsung SATA Internal DVD Burner

Solution
No problem with the component but maybe you could add a 120GB SSD for the OS boot drive. One SSD will make your system run a hell lot faster than just using the HDD for everything. I personally run 2 SSD and might look to add 1 HDD if the time calls for it :D

Yeah but I'm running on a budget currently and would add the 120 SSD, but right now I'm almost hitting my $1200 limit. So I may pick it up later down the road unless there's a better alternative hahah
