New PC. Motherboard temp over 100c when idle

Hey there, I'm gonna make this quick.

First build (got it built).
Asus H97 plus
Asus 970 4GB
Intel i5 4460

Is this a broken sensor? (If it is then I don't want to go through the hassle of claiming warranty for something that won't affect performance)
Is this board physically busted?

i would get that motherboard RMAed and just get a new one. it might be any of the chips getting hot and the board might even catch on fire or just get fried. call Asus and let them know what is happening and get it RAMed.

Try different OS for test, coz RMA may not detect problems and you will waste your time from that RMA.

3rd party hardware monitors can actually be very unreliable depending on the hardware you have installed. I can say this first hand as an owner of a AMD Kaveri CPU. Some software show my temps high and others show them at normal levels based on what the PC is doing at the time, gaming, idle etc. Just by looking at the BIOS photo I would lean towards your board being ok. It is a bit concerning that both speed fan and HWMonitor show similar temps. I suspect maybe faulty senors

Oops you're right that is the manual or suite photo lol. He should come back and post one because that would pretty much mean the board is bad.

Ugh, I accidentally selected you as the best answer. Anyway, how do I post pics from the BIOS? I did go in there to check right after someone suggested and there were no high temps (the BIOS showed the same temps as the suite)

Turn on your PC and start touching the motherboard. If you find a Spot that is really hot then there you go you know that there is something wrong with the board. But if you Touch everywhere and everything is the same Temp then you are okay.

Looks like you use some programs which show not actual info about temperature.
