I am having a hard time installing a new video card, any help is appreciated. I thought it would be plug it in and update drivers, but apparently not.
So I have a...

Acer
Aspire M3420
(Bios ver. 04.06.05)
AMD A8 - 5500 APU with Radeon HD Graphics (4 CPUs) ~3.2GHz (AMD Radeon HD7560D + HD 7600 Dual Graphics)
16384MB RAM

I added a 500w power supply for a new graphics card, so power should not be an issue.

This is my computer manual with BIOS setting in the guide, so you know what BIOS you working with or any other info.

I tried installing a Gigabyte Geforce 750 Ti but I get one long beep, 2 short beeps, will not load windows 8.1.
I then was told it does not work with Legacy BIOS very well to get a R9 270, so I got a Asus R9 270, I plug that in and I only get a black screen. I tried numerous things, including uninstalling current Display driver, disabling current display driver, etc.
Anyone know how to install the R9 as I think I will go with that one, if it works? If I make a UEFI boot disk (first of all, will it work with my computer?), will that give me the options I need to turn off onboard GPU?
Thanks

you may need to do that in the BIOS, but more importantly and usually a noob error, did you plug in the extra 6 pin power connector? For higher end graphics cards they need more power, and for that specific card you need a 6 pin power connector going directly to the card

EDIT: Ah, sorry, didn't see you opted to go for the r9 route. Yes, you probably need to turn off the onboard GPU in the BIOS, though I'm not familiar with BIOS on FM2+ it's definitely worth a look.
