PC is a year old already.

Press turn on, boots up into windows, login, etc all okay. No problems at all.

However, I want to format my harddrive completely and reinstall windows 7. Guess what? Amazing news! You have to enter your BIOS to do so!
That's okay. I'll just press [DEL] as it boots up. "Opening Bios..." Oh. What's this? It displays only 4 options and has very corrupted images in the background. I'll press "main settings". Freezes. I'll have to turn the PC off by pressing the button, try again, same result.

I searched on here. "Clear CMOS". Okay. I followed the instructions to clear CMOS that are provided with the manual. No results.

How do I fix my BIOS then?

If you have the monitor connected to a Pci-e based graphics card fitted to the system.
And the motherboard also has an on board video display port on it.
Connect the monitor to that port on the motherboard instead.

Next time you press the key to enter the bios, it should be crisp and clean with no garbled images or text.
